Unrest in Northeast India Is Due to Political Terrorists

The book “At War” Four Pillars of Falsehood and Public of Republic, justifies that the Executive, Judiciary, Legislature and the Press are the Four Pillars of Falsehood. Since each of these institutions has achieved the exact opposite of what they claim to be striving for.

After independence, the northeastern states were accorded step-motherly treatment in the Constitution of India. Nehruian integration through the Assam model was another historical blunder as it considered Assam to be the last outpost of Indian civilization in the east, followed by giving away Manipur’s Kabaw valley to Myanmar without consulting the people of Manipur.

Naga issue can be solved long ago if dictator Nehru studied the political history of Naga Hills, Assam and Manipur. The failed meeting of 1953 seemed to indicate that there was no more room for compromise or even negotiations between the Government of India and the Naga leaders. Today, the entire northeastern region is suffering from the divide and rule policies of the successive governments.

Seven northeastern states of India are facing insurgency since the last 60 years, 23 states are facing left-wing extremism, the state of Punjab burned in the fire for a decade and Kashmir continues to simmer in the heat of proxy war.

The authors blame Nehru for politicizing the Indian Army and using it to quell political dissent in the state of Assam against the Naga Hills. Even after freedom from British colonial rule, the colonial Indian military raised the principles of divisive politics to enslave the natives, turned into an effective practical tool, using Sikhs against Nagas in Nagaland, Gurkhas against Meeteis in Manipur and all against Muslims in Kashmir.

The Kabaw Valley was handed over to Burma (Myanmar) without consulting the people of Manipur and in return Nehru gave the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) of 1958 to the whole of North East India which empowers even a Lance Naik to shoot and kill any person on the mere suspicion that he may disturb the public order, arrest any person on reasonable suspicion, and enter any premises without a search warrant. In fact, living with this law is living under the gun barrel with death just a bullet away. “No appeal, “no argumentation”, no advocates, but a bloody death street for freedom of expression in the state, which is presented as the world’s greatest democracy.

“At War” Four Pillars of Falsehood and Public of Republic is contemporary crisis history in India, with stories of conflict and persecution unleashed on the people of this nation by the authoritarian state, as witnessed and analyzed by a front-line operational insider.

The authors state that post British India is engrossed in a perpetual state war against its own public in the republic as a design of governance to preserve power formation that operates on the principles of presenting falsehood as gospel truth and continuing unhindered economic exploitation.

In Manipur, 1528 cases of fake encounters are missing, and another hundred more from police and army custody. Authors warned that the greatest threat to life and liberty of people in post-British India comes from the work culture of the police, paramilitary and military, where lives are devoured with impunity. These victims depend on the “judiciary”, the last hope for those who believe they live within the framework of the rule of law.

The authors advocate that the only direct and indirect beneficiaries of spiraling crime and corruption became the police and judiciary – thus flourishing the reciprocal relationship between crime and “Pillars of Falsehood”.

The book is a first-hand account and analysis of tragic events of the role played by the police and the armed forces, whose function creates conflict and prepares the ground for terrorism and insurgency to thrive, and the vicious cycle of violence through retributive justice continues, with a heavy price that it common man pays with his life and liberty at risk.

The authors blame the “Executive” pillar of democracy, manned by dumb babus of IAS/IPS without any domain expertise, devoid of problem solving skills and devoid of organizational skills. Ironically, most of the babus posted in the northeastern states do not know the geographical and political history of the region.

The author has worked as a frontline operations officer for the BSF and posted in towns and villages in North, North East and West India. This book represents the eyewitness account of the grotesque scenes of violence as a fallout from a poorly trained criminalized militia.

The author also proposes freeing citizens from the shackles of colonial laws and institutions and redefining citizens’ relationship with the state, which is a sovereign, the independent, to whom every state actor is directly accountable.

In the book, a chapter titled “The Freedom of 1947 – Plot, Traitors and Treacheries” revealed all that needs to be informed to the Nation’s youth. Masses who had played foot soldiers at great sacrifice were transformed overnight from colonial slaves to petitioners at the mercy of an autocratic power formation that Nehru had undertaken.

This book highlighted the pitfalls and narratives of existing Indian institutions in general and armed forces and their role in particular, in provoking the ongoing political crisis into full-blown insurgent violence in the country.

This is an honest effort to inform the common man about “why it is happening” and prepare public opinion as a continuation of the radical campaign for a democratic structural change India has been longing for!
