The prêt -a porter show in Paris last September was the beginning of a new phase for the fashion brand. She captured the interest of buyers, fashionistas and media alike with her ‘Kick The Addiction’ collection at Lakme Fashion Week S/S 08 in Mumbai. SALT has since been featured in more than 150 galleries across the UK, including Bottega Ltd, Fenwicks and Black Orchid Ltd. With the experience of supplying high street brands such as Jigsaw in the UK, Australia and New York, the company has come of age. Autumn/Winter 2008

“salt” by Ruchi Mehta

A subtle palette of textures with uniquely detailed embellishment is the hallmark of the ‘salt’ label. This season it stretches from western to ethnic in a journey characterized by experimentation with texture and color. The serene palette of muted tones and colors matched with contrasts and sprinkled with incomparable details bring this Autumn/Winter collection from ‘salt’ to life. Basics such as aged ivory, silver, dove and charcoal are complimented by olive, twilight, misty blue, champagne red, ocher and sea. Kantha-like stitches are combined with shimmering crewel work, coarse weaves are combined with transparent stitches to produce varied tones and textures. Cuff and collar details are exaggerated in stark contrast to the otherwise light and flowing shapes. From essential coats to sharp dresses to soft sarees, the easy-flowing collection aims to invade wardrobes everywhere. An interesting aspect of the collection was the printed leggings used in combination with chappals and short dresses.
