Harness Your Entrepreneurship Potentials

Thanks to this conference, I believe my audience is a group of ambitious and emerging entrepreneurs who are ready to take the world by storm. I don’t think there are (if that’s the case), but I think I’m talking to young entrepreneurs who will grow into business giants in the next few years. Then you might remember this little giant standing in front of you, but you might not recognize it.

Thank God for the idea. But if ideas equal entrepreneurship, then all of you would be great entrepreneurs, great inventors, great businessmen, businesswomen. Entrepreneurship is a subject that goes beyond starting a business and remaining a business owner! It’s not about blowing the trumpets by assigning yourself an ego-centric title such as CEO, COO, OM, OPC, EFCC . No!

The bitter truth is that while entrepreneurship may seem profitable, the venture is not for everyone. , said, “You need the right mindset and skill set. Don’t try[entrepreneurship]until you understand those two things!”

I also want to sound an alarm. Entrepreneurship is not plan B. For those who haven’t been able to get a white collar job, it’s not an alternative. Thank God for the appetizing salary. But my failure to secure employment at Shell or MTN does not allow me to choose entrepreneurship. A prospective student who chooses a federally-owned Nigerian university as her second institution at the time of filling out the form has already decided her fate.

In fact, rising unemployment has forced many to look inward. Ironically, there is a bright side to this situation. Back then (as we were told), as a graduate, you have the guarantee of a good job waiting for you. Even if you have a master’s degree or an MBA, you may still need professional certification and several years of hands-on experience.

I don’t care if MTN, Shell, or Chevron rejected your employment request. All you need is God smiling at your seemingly small business. Because from this meeting a giant will be born. You go out there and raid your world!

So what is entrepreneurship? Who are the entrepreneurs?

Entrepreneurs are truly unique individuals. Entrepreneurs work for their customers/clients but find it difficult or impossible to work for someone else. I am willing to risk everything for love…and sometimes I live with some failures.

An entrepreneur is someone who can make big dreams come true. Entrepreneurs have leadership qualities. A leader is someone who knows what they want. He is the creator of ideas, unique opportunities and concepts. He is ready to take risks.

The people below have something to say about entrepreneurship.

Alan Sugar: “Entrepreneurs, if there is such a thing, are natural strategists and thinkers.”

Hunt Greene: “Everything is always impossible before it works. That’s what entrepreneurs are all about. Doing what people said was impossible.”

Michael Smurfit: “An entrepreneur is like an eagle… he soars alone, flies alone, hunts alone.”

Tom Peters: “Entrepreneurship is an unjustified belief based on insufficient evidence.”

Nigeria’s business climate is made up of entrepreneurs who, despite their humble background, have weathered the storm and are still turning their backs on their pursuits.

Here is a list of some of them.

1. Mike Adenuga (Globacom)

2. Femiotedra (Xenon Oil)

3. Dangote Ariko (Dangote Group)

4. Jimoh Ibrahim (Nikon Insurance)

5. Flank Neji (ABC Transport)

6. Tony Momo (Channels TV)

7. Tony Ezena (Orange Drugs)

8. Samuel Adedoin (Doin Group)

9. Alex Ible (The Guardian)

10. Fol Aieni (Tantalizers)

11. Dele Momodu (Ovation Magazine)

12. Otomba Gaddafi (DMT Mobile Toilet)

Let’s take a look at some of the most fundamental factors that have helped them get this far.

I. Need Ideas: Ideas are your connection to the world of business exploits and are inspired by them. Soaring ideas are the harbingers of the most successful businesses around the world. Ideas are like good wine, they don’t need bushes. Every entrepreneurial venture starts with an idea. Therefore, you should always be creative, innovative and resourceful. Never underestimate the value of an idea. All positive ideas can be successful if properly managed.

II. You may start small, but always think big! As a startup, we don’t always have enough money to start a large scale business. More than 60% of his start-ups in Nigeria and abroad typically face challenges in startups and running capital. Start with what you have. Starting small doesn’t mean staying small. Understand that you are allowed to start small, but you need to think big. “As he thinks in his heart, he is.” You have to paint a picture of your dream business in your imagination. You have to “act” like you’re running a big company. This kind of feeling should be reflected in everything you do: your communication, your sense of dress, your business environment. Starting small is not a crime. God’s Word advises us not to neglect our small beginnings. He knows there are always small beginnings! For many of us, now is the time to learn and become strong enough to meet the challenges associated with big business.

III. Be Creative and Innovative: Your business cannot survive without creative thinking. It amuses me that some business owners operate their businesses as if they were the only company offering some kind of product or service. You can’t afford to neglect your business approach and strategy. Always create activities to make your business, products and services news worth thinking and talking about. Aim for 1001 fashion outfits in the area!

Everett Rogers says: If you use yesterday’s tactics and strategies to manage today’s complex business challenges, you will be bankrupt tomorrow. Arthur Koestler also argued that “the chief characteristic of genius is not perfection, but originality, the opening of new frontiers.”

Managing current business trends and anticipating future trends requires a creative approach. Ask yourself strategic questions. “How can we improve existing services?” Tom Peters puts it this way. Since someone asked it first, it’s a mouse. ”

You have a creative mind – use it! You can’t read about creativity. You have to do what every creative act requires: the first step into the unknown.

Got a new (creative) idea? Take action. Put it into action, put your inspiration into action. “The way to start is to stop talking and start doing” (Walt Disney). As Ben Franklin once said, “Better done well than said well.”

IV. Search for knowledge related to your area of expertise or interest. Knowledge they say is power. God’s Word says, “A man will be praised according to his wisdom…a man’s wisdom will make his countenance shine.” Don’t think about decorating your home, store, or office with a degree certificate. Instead, deck your head with today’s innovative strategies, techniques, and trends that will help you grow your business and career. Find new pricing and selling techniques. The truth is, you can’t be better, bigger, or more successful than you think you are. And the power of your knowledge determines your thoughts! Remember, “As he thinks in his heart, so he is.” Creativity and innovation is 90% inside and 10% outside.

V. We need a defense against discouragement. As an aspiring or start-up business owner, you need to have the mindset that success doesn’t come easy. Not even business. Usually, the initial flow of ideas for starting a business is overwhelming. He is highly motivated and invests both time and energy into the success of new ventures. At this level of business, on the contrary, I really didn’t know that business management meant dealing with stress, challenges, disappointments, failures, and outright rejection!

A research study of 243 entrepreneurs in Lagos, Nigeria. Of all the problems faced by entrepreneurs, unreliable employees were the most important. A weak economy, power shortages and unsafe locations were also cited as obstacles preventing entrepreneurs from achieving their goals.

At every stage of your business growth, you need to protect yourself from disappointment. You need to trust God for help and believe in yourself to stay strong until you overcome your fear. As a small business person, I’ve been tempted to apply for paid jobs elsewhere on several occasions. As a matter of fact, I submitted several applications! Owning and managing a business is no easy task. You should be aware of this from the beginning. Business is life – don’t let it die in your hands!

Please concentrate. Insistent. Be consistent. Be strong. Indeed, you can truly be a business giant! See you at the top!
