The Rise Of Elvis Presley – The Original Master Of Rock And Roll

Growing up a shy boy without any siblings who was attached to his parents and teased in class for being a “momma’s boy” before starting his calling in the music industry, Elvis Presley is generally regarded as the King of Rock and Roll, and his journey to the top was much more modest than you might imagine. He was an only child after his twin brother was delivered stillborn only 35 minutes before he was in January of 1935 in a little two-room shotgun house that his father built in Tupelo Mississippi.

While attending church at the Assembly of God, where his parents worshipped, Presley came in fifth in a school talent show for his playing of “Old Sheep” at the age of ten, and it was then where he discovered his muse to develop his strength as a performer, as a child. Having being regarded as a introvert and not having a lot of close friends at the time, where he would play and sing during his lunch period, a few months afterwards Elvis received his first guitar for his birthday and began bringing it to class with him on an everyday basis.

By twelfth grade in high school, people started to pay more attention to him as he played at the Blues clubs in Memphis and grew out his sideburns as well as styling his hair and wearing flashier clothes. After failing to get wide popularity after high school by singing and playing guitar, he was discovered by Sam Phillips, who was searching for a young voice that could carry the sounds of black music into the forefront of the U.S. audience. Phillips hadn’t forgotten about Elvis from his early years when he went to Phillips’ Sun Records to record some of his earlier work on vinyl records for his mom, and reached out to the young singer, allowing him to finally let loose, and that’s when his real talent started to appear.

In 1958, Elvis was drafted into the military after he began to blow up and be at the highest point of his stardom, while there he toured with the military until 1960, then returned to the states and his singing tours. This go around, he was more active in Hollywood and evolved into the King that we all know him today. He lived a full and prosperous life until his death in August of 1977, but all over the globe, music lovers still hold him in high regard as an icon and a rebel, and Elvis Presley vinyl is still sought out by fans everywhere.
